Outstanding, engaging experience

I was very pleasantly surprised at the excellent production quality and engaging storyline of this game! The characters are well developed, the voice acting is excellent. There are not many games that make you care about the fate of the characters - this is one. The interface could be improved, especially the hotspots on the screen. They dont always work on the first or second try. I liked it enough that I will now buy the sequel!

Great game

I played this when it came out for the PC in 1996, and loved it ever since. Im really happy they created it for an iPhone, Id highly recommend it for being a great story line, fun game and really makes you think to figure out the story. Ive played it twice through since I bought it. I wish I could give this game 10 stars because it deserves it. ( also retained the old feeling of this game, with a few extra add ons). It would be great to see more stories following George and Niko, I would definitely buy them.

Bug when opening gate locks (2.0)

Great game will give it five stars when the gate doesnt crash the game anymore. No more bugs atleast on the devices I use as far as I can tell.

Hard to use

The game is really fun in theory but it doesnt work properly. For example, youll need an item in your inventory but it wont be possible to get it. I found myself stuck for that reason twice and finally just deleted the game. Definitely not worth any money until they figure that stuff out.

Great Port!!

This is by far one of my all time favorite games, and these guys did an excellent job porting it to the idevices. I played Broken Sword during its original Windows95 release, again a few years ago in ScummVM, and will probably play through it once every year or so now that its in my pocket. Keep up the great work!

I love this game

Lazy review, but if you like adventure games do not miss this series.

Unabashedly brilliant & Timeless!!!!

This game took my breath away. I loved every single minute of this experience. Its like watching a movie & being in the movie all at once! The character voices were fantastic too. Even though there wasnt a ton of puzzles, this game kept me interested from the get-go. More more MORE please!!! Thank the stars above there is another game - so thankful to all who had a hand in its creation!!! Make sure to read about how it all started(courtesy of the Directors Cut)& lastly, the music. So lovely & enjoyable! Thank you again!! PS. I really liked that we had two main characters. It wouldve been better if Nico had been utilized more. George had a waaaay bigger part & I feel we missed out on Nico. Great game in spite of this fact......Thanks!

Ok story, bad game planning.

The story is the best part of the game. They totally ripped off "The Da Vinci Code". It has Templars, and archeology puzzles. The game is old and is laughably racist. The game is British made, so you will find a lot of French, middle eastern, and American stereotypes. My problem with the game are more technical, I like adventure games where the interactions between the characters resembles everyday life. If you are right in front of a friendly character that you need to interact, normally youd just ask a question. There is one interaction in this game, where you have to do 2 unrelated actions, just to get the attention of that character. So basically you have to solve a puzzle, just to do this. Be ready to rely a lot in the hints, A LOT. And not in the game, because the hints you will find are sometimes iffy, the walkthroughs online are your friends.

Absolutely fantastic

Few games match the wit and excitement of Broken Sword.

One of my favorite games

Excellent storytelling and engaging gameplay. This game is very nostalgic for me

Game control is retro and counterintuitive

Pros: nice comic-book style graphics. Promising and well-designed storyline, even though it seems like a rip-off of Dan Browns novels. Interesting characters. Best part is the self-deprecating Brit sense of humor. Cons: the interface is retro-feeling and counterintuitive, its too troublesome to even walk from place-to-place and put something in the inventory into action. Some of the dialogues are way too long and useless.

A fun interactive adventure

I enjoyed this interactive puzzler. The storyline was interesting and the gameplay went on much longer than Id expected. The puzzle sequences tended to be fairly elaborate and I ended up using the puzzle hints more than I usually like to. Also the interface was a bit frustrating to wrangle with at times and the game was occasionally glitchy. For instance, I eventually stopped trying to review the manuscript at Nicos apartment because there was no easy way to exit that view. I basically ended up quitting the program, which would "rewind" the scene. That said, I am looking forward to exploring with other Broken Sword games.

Great game

Hours of entertainment. Loved it.

On my short FAVORITES list

I read a few of the criticisms of the game, and most seem to be grounded in the players inability to figure things out. For example, its not a glitch that you dont have an item, its that you havent found the item yet, and may need to look for it elsewhere. Also, the manuscript isnt hard to get out of once you figure out that you first have to zoom in on each of the five parts. The game is somewhat linear so that sometimes you cant do an activity until youve done another one, but thats part of the challenge. With a little patience most tasks can be figured out, and when Id run out of patience, i found the hint system mostly excellent (there was one exception, but I then figured out what to do). This game reminded me of Yesterday by Bulkypix, which I also highly recommend to those who havent yet had the pleasure of playing it.

Stuck

Im stuck at the pub in Ireland. I cant use the wire,, both the bartender and lead character shrug. Spent hours on this. Unable to contact dev. Would give it 5 stars if I wasnt so maddeningly stuck. Im not a complainer, I dont write bad reviews. Please fix!

Loved this game

Awesome game reminiscent of Sierra type adventure games like Space Quest .... Really cant find these type of games anymore.... Adventure games either have a gazillion hidden object scenes (blegh) or require a ridiculous level of violence, so thank you Revolution! Busy downloading part 2 :)

Interesting approach

I really enjoyed the playable cartoon aspect of this game.

Pretty good, but slightly annoying

You start out playing this awesome French journalist, but shortly afterward you end up playing this total buffoon. I mean one of those asswipes who assumes all kinds of things about people based on stereotypes. The kind of person I always want to punch in the nose. So I was actually angry at the end when he... Well, I wont give it away. Also, there are no subtitles for the cutscenes. Very annoying. The game mechanics are solid, though, and the puzzles are fun. I dont regret the purchase.

Timeless fun!

My older brother and I played this back in 1995 when I was 7 years old. Now in 2014 it is just as much fun as I remember!

Great game, a few gripes

The overall interface was a little clunky IMO, but there were no real problems with it except for the chess puzzles, which were almost unsolvable because I couldnt physically move the pieces without way more effort and concentration than should be necessary. My other major complaint is that the cut scenes are not subtitled for those who need them.
